Michael Patrick Glavine! Welcome to the Official Web site of the Somerset Patriots' first baseman, Mike Glavine. Mike landed a spot on the independent league team after being released earlier this season from the Triple-A Richmond Braves. Prior to his stint with Richmond, Mike was a member of the Double-A Greenville Braves for two seasons.
Before being sent to the Atlanta Braves organization for future considerations, Mike spent his time in the Cleveland Indians organization, after the club drafted him in the 22nd round of the 1995 draft. With the Indians, Mike had stops at Burlington, Columbus and Kinston.
The 28-year-old Mike stands at 6'3, 210 pounds and was born on January 24, 1973 in Concord, Massachusetts, the youngest child of Fred and Mildred Glavine. Mike attended college at Northeastern University beginning in the fall of 1991 and received his degree in business administration. In his junior year of college he was drafted by the Houston Astros, but opted instead to return to college for his senior year.
